A terrible loss for the Udinese family. This morning, doctor Fausto Bellato who worked for a long time as social doctor fot the "bianconero" team, was found dead in his home in Viale Venezia in Udine. He was 86 years old and he was born in Bellombra in the Rovigo province but transferred to Udine after obtaining his degree in Medicine and Surgery. He started working as an assistant in the general medicine department in the "Città di Udine" nursing house and later became the primary doctor where he stayed until his retirement even if he continued to cooperate with the medical provider for some years.
His relationship with Udinese started in 1966 and went on for 22 years in which he had the satisfaction of seeing the team going from C league to A league in just 2 seasons (from 1977 to 1979). At the start of the 2000s, Gianpaolo Pozzo called him back in the Udinese family, even though he just worked as an external, until 2007. During that time the Udinese managed to conquer the pass for the european events, especially in 2005 where the team went to the Champions League.
He was a friend, a confidant, a source of advice for the "bianconeri" players who always held him on high regardd and respected him and he was always available for the family.
