In the first leg, at the Barbera Stadium in Palermo, Udinese played at their best: “It is time to win now, we unfairly lost that match- said coach Marino during the press conference on the eve of Udinese-Palermo – I am optimistic about it. Having a certain mental balance at this point of the season plays a fundamental role, and Udinese have responded in the right way this week”.
What lacked in Bergamo was a clear mind: “We would have won that match, provided the table was different for us. Having a clear mind, helps you to play at your best level. Due to the situation we are going through, we have lost that skill, and could not take advantage of some counterattack situations nor of some Atalanta’s slips.”
In the meantime, Udinese once again left for the training camp on Friday evening: “The players do believe that spending more time together will help the team. We have planned the match to Palermo considering the smallest details, we haven’t left anything out”.
Udinese-Atalanta ended up with a draw last week: “It is a positive result, no doubt. We need to improve the defence sector, that should be impervious to the opposing forward. Inler is the player who can give us a big hand, I want him to play as an additional defender as for the few metres preceding the box”.
A word about the absentees (“It is true, doing without D’Agostino is not easy. But Sammarco is just good”) and Palermo: “A strong, offensive team, which can boast players such as Miccoli, Pastore, Cavani, Simplicio and many more. The best Udinese will have to hit the pitch tomorrow”.
