Fabio Cannavaro looked to reassure his players after his brief debut in the Udinese dugout ended in defeat following Bryan Cristante's injury-time winner for Roma.

Speaking after overseeing the remainder of the Week 32 fixture that was originally abandoned on 14 April, the newly appointed coach said: “It's not easy to analyse a 20-minute match. I saw some good things and some other things we need to work on.

“We were never going to solve all of the team's problems in two days and we were up against Roma. It's just a shame that the chances they had were given away by us.”

As for the avoidable corner kick that led to the goal: “It's a mistake that you can pay for. The lads must try to keep calm because if I pick them and they make mistakes, it's my fault.

“If we're in the league position we're in, it means we've made lots of mistakes. I've been working to try and reduce them in the two days since I've been here.

Udinese's next match is a trip to Bologna.

“On paper, everyone assumes we'll lose. I know what journalists are like and how they think. If you ask me to get a point, I'm already losing. We must understand that in football nothing is lost from the outset. In the same game there will be times times when you're struggling and when you're on top.”
