Cioffi: "We'll go again stronger than before"

The boss speaks ahead of the Bologna match

Gabriele Cioffi spoke to Udinese TV the day before the match against Bologna at the Stadio Dall'Ara. This is what he had to say:

Do you expect to see a reaction from the team after Wednesday's last-minute blow?

“The players look angry and aware. I haven't asked them for a 'reaction' as such because they tried to win until the 93rd minute. Obviously they made a mistake but they deserve credit because they showed had plenty of desire despite securing our place in the top flight the week before, You need consistency if you want to achieve things. After three excellent wins we lost one. Now we must go again stronger than before.”

Is it a good thing that you get to play again so soon?

“We wanted to play again the very next day, straight away, at 9:30 in the morning. What we want to do in tomorrow's game is play with desire, balance and ambition, as we should.”

How are the players looking fitness-wise with so many games back to back?

“The team are in a good place physically and mentally. We're not used to playing five games in a fortnight so we're going to need to dig deep, not just physically but mentally too. It's another test of our maturity and we want to show we're up to it.”

What are you expecting from Bologna?

“They're a team that earned a 0-0 draw in Milan, won a six-pointer at home then went 1-0 up away to Juve. They'll be riding a wave of enthusiasm but they're going to find themselves up against another team full of enthusiasm.”
