New signing Axel Guessand was interviewed on Udinese tonight. Here’s some of what he had to say:
“When I received the offer from Udinese I was surprised; they’re a big club. I followed them from a young age and I accepted their proposal right away. I spoke to the president and the directors and they won me over instantly.
“It’s a huge opportunity for me. I’ve come here to develop as a player. I’m young and I’ve got to make the most of my time. I chose Udinese because of the club’s reputation, the football the team play and also because I know some of the French players who are at the club.
“I picked up a great deal of experience at Nancy. I got the chance to play twice for the first team. Now at Udinese I got to know my team-mates in the training camp in Austria. There’s a great group of players; I hung out with Brandon Soppy and Jean-Victor Makengo. They’ve been here for a season or two and they’ve helped me settle in. I feel good here.
“As for the players who’ve made the biggest impressions on me, I’d say Soppy and Destiny Udogie. I’m also a big fan of Makengo and Roberto Pereyra; the latter played a blinder against Chelsea.
“Regarding what I need to improve at, I’d say my focus. I’m still young, though. I need to maintain my concentration levels throughout the 90 minutes.
“I’d like to say to the fans to keep cheering on the club through thick and thin. I hope that we all have a great season together.”
