His performances attracted the attention of CSKA Moscow, who snapped him up in 2018. He went on to play 27 matches in all competitions that season – including the Champions League – weighing in with four league goals.

He continued to be a mainstay of the CSKA side the following year, turning out 34 times in the Premier Liga, Russian Cup and Europa League.

In 2020/21 he joined German outfit Hannover on loan, adding to his experience with 31 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

He returned to his parent club last season and played a further 30 games in all competitions.

Bijol is a regular member of the Slovenia team and has earned 31 caps in midfield and defence since making his senior debut in 2018.

Previously he played for Slovenia U21s (four appearances), U19s (two apps) and U18s (10 apps, two goals).
