Andrea Sottil expressed his satisfaction with Udinese's performance in their second pre-season friendly, against Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon.

“It was a tough game but we knew it would be,” the coach began after watching his side battle to a 3-3 draw with the German outfit, who finished fifth in the Bundesliga last year.

“I'm pleased because the lads held their shape well. We need to keep improving in all areas, but that's what we're here for.

“We could have done better on the goals we conceded. We'll look at them again and work on it.

“In any case, I'm very happy with the attitude the lads showed. They clearly wanted to win it.

“Everyone is involved and everyone is useful to the cause and our aim of winning games.”

Ilija Nestorovski impressed with a double after being called off the bench with less than 15 minutes on the clock due to an injury to Gerard Deulofeu.

“Nesto came on without a warm-up and scored two – that's a good sign,” Sottil added.

“The others showed they're ready too. They're all willing to work hard.”
