Udogie: "Deulofeu and Success can take credit for the goal"

The wing-back speaks after the draw with Bologna

After his third goal of the season in the 2-2 stalemate away to Bologna, Destiny Udogie was quick to brush off the compliments.

“It’s all down to the coach,” explained the 19-year-old. “He always asks the wing-backs to try to finish moves off, so we try to get ourselves into the box.” Taking up the right spaces is key to the team’s style of play, as shown by the opening goal at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday.

“[Gerard] Deulofeu and [Isaac] Success did the hard bit,” revealed Udogie. “I just found myself in front of goal and got lucky.”

The assist came in the form of a delicious back heel by Success, who the Italian was quick to heap praise on. “We know that Isaac is great at holding the ball up and playing with his back to goal. That’s why I link up so well with him.”

Udogie finished off by admitting the team wasn’t happy with the draw: “There’s a feeling of disappointment. We wasted so many chances and could’ve been more ruthless. It would've been great to win (after losing late on against Salernitana), but the draw is still OK.”
