Udinese coach Gabriele Cioffi spoke to Udinese TV after his first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw with Milan.

“In terms of a positive debut, I had a helping hand thanks to the wonderful job by Luca Gotti over the last two-and-a-half years. I just asked the lads to add what I’ve done with them and what we’ve seen in recent days. I’d like to thank all the staff for their support, warmth and respect since I took over. I’d like to thank the club for the chance that I’ve been given and I’d like to thank the players because their performance tonight has made me proud.

“We can still improve many areas of our game, but everyone gave their best tonight.

“As for [Tolgay] Arslan, I could see he was tired, so I had no reason not to replace him, given that I had alternatives on the bench. The team was present and the attitude was spot on.

“I think we have huge potential and it’s just about fulfilling it, first of all, to clinch safety as soon as possible and being able to work calmly.

“The atmosphere was wonderful tonight, but this result can’t be considered a victory. We have to be aware that we did well, but it’s not enough. Now we need to perform consistently.”
