Gabriele Cioffi was full of praise for his players after they produced a professional performance to see off Crotone in the Coppa Italia.

“We got off to an excellent start in what was only an 'easy' game on paper,” the coach told Udinese TV after the 4-0 win.

“[Lazar] Samardzic put his talent on display and also showed how hard he's been working to improve his weaknesses. I'm delighted for Nacho [Pussetto]. I saw lots of things I knew already and lots of encouraging signs too, but what I really liked was our approach as a team.

“The goals are a fillip for our strikers as Nacho and [Isaac] Success both got on the score sheet. It's a shame for [Ilija] Nestorovski and [Fernando] Forestieri: they played well and deserved a goal [Sebastien] De Maio was excellent and got a goal to boot.

“There are some differences between this playing system and the previous one. It's not as simple as just changing formation but as I said it was the attitude that pleased me most. If we can perform like today against Cagliari, we should be able to celebrate again.”
