Gabriele Cioffi was satisfied with Udinese's performance against Lazio in the Coppa Italia despite the narrow extra-time defeat.
“I'm proud of the lads; they played very well," he said after the game. "I saw an aggressive team that really wanted to win – and that's exactly what I want to see. They deserve lots of credit."
Result aside, there were plenty of positive displays at the Stadio Olimpico – especially from the youngsters – as the coach himself acknowledged.
“[Lazar] Samardzic played incredibly well, and so did [Brandon] Soppy and [Destiny] Udogie. [Nehuen] Perez and Walace did well in their positions. Everyone put in a good performance against a great team but you only get congratulations when you win.
“This gritty approach must be part of our identity. We need clear ideas and we must be bold without being reckless. That's how we want to play until the end of the season.”
