Sebastien De Maio was a guest on ‘Udinese Tonight.’ Here are some of the highlights of his appearance on Udinese TV:

“The win over Sassuolo was crucial. We were really keen to get the three points and the team did what we needed to do. By improving we’ve managed to get this long-awaited win.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room wasn’t tense because it’s not like we’d lost our last eight games; there had been many draws. By drawing you get a point so you can move up the table that way. If we’d picked up just one win among all those draws the narrative would’ve been different, but we’d drawn four games in a row after having lost the previous three on the bounce, so we hadn’t changed league position that much. We need to build momentum, as we’re capable of more than this.

“As for Sunday’s match, it was crucial that we went into the half-time break level. It really woke us up and allowed us to then take the game to them, as we weren’t chasing the game. The coach kept things very straightforward. He's good at making himself understood and saying the right things. The team took on board what he said on Sunday.

“I try to bring what I can to the team. Yet it's not just me; everyone makes vital contributions. We're a close-knit group. There’s still plenty of room for improvement in the team, and each one of us has to raise their game.

“I was among those who didn’t play, but we’ve got to respect the coach’s decisions. I thought that I maybe deserved an opportunity. I’ll keep working hard in training so that I’m ready for if the coach calls on me. I’ll get my chance, I’m sure of that.

“Nahuel Perez had a great debut. It’s not his natural position but he did well. Congratulations to him, you can tell that he’s been working hard. He’s done what’s asked of him and contributed a lot to the team. I’m happy and I’d like to offer him my congratulations.”
