Luca Gotti admitted he had few complaints to make after watching his side defeat Ascoli in convincing fashion in the first round of the Coppa Italia.

This is what he had to say to Udinese TV after the match:

“There's not much to fault the players on today. Our general approach was good. Games like this might look easy from the outside, but I can assure you they are anything but easy. There was the odd moment when we were a bit sloppy, like the goal we conceded at the end – that was a bit annoying – but overall it was good."

The boss went on to comment on how pre-season training is going, before offering a special mention for Ascoli slayers Nahuel Molina and Roberto Pereyra

“We've started decreasing the loads now as we move towards a different intensity. We're looking at tactical matters in greater detail and trying out different match situations. We want to be ready for our first league match, which is an especially tricky one.

“Molina looks like he's been with us since the first day of pre-season. He kept up the training during his break and turned up in excellent shape.

“Pererya scored two great goals. The first was smart thinking and the second was out of the ordinary – that's not the sort of goal just anyone can score.”
