Gotti pleased with 'team performance'

The boss reflects on a hard-fought victory over Crotone

Luca Gotti praised his players' work rate after they held on to beat Crotone 2-1 on Saturday..

“We were really determined to bounce back today after three bad results and at this stage of the season these three points are huge,” the coach told Udinese TV after the game.

“We afforded Crotone a bit too much space at the start of the game but then we managed to push into their territory more and we played well.

“In the second half I thought we were in control up until the penalty, then after the equaliser we dug in and managed to restore our lead and see out the game.

“[Rodrigo] De Paul is a luxury. A player with his ability is normally only useful in the opposition half but he pulls his weight all over the pitch. He sets a great example and he's a very handy player.

“We needed a real team performance today and one of the things I liked most was seeing [Ilija] Nestorovski and [Stefano] Okaka toiling for the team in attack without showing any signs of selfishness.

“[Bram] Nuytinck is another player who always brings so much to the team.

“We have 36 points after 31 games so we can go into our coming matches without any great pressure.”
