Speaking to Udinese TV after his side’s thrilling win over Benevento on Sunday afternoon, Luca Gotti expressed satisfaction with the mentality on show from his players.
He said: "[Nahuel] Molina has had the spotlight on him recently after those two penalties he gave away, in unlucky fashion with handballs, in two differing incidents. That could well have been a heavy blow for a lad of his age, who is embarking on life in Serie A, but I saw him during the week full of desire to get back into battle. His early goal today demonstrated that. The huddle at the end of the game was to celebrate our run in this league season – we’ve shown something in these 33 games and nothing’s been given to us for free. Until we went 2-0 up today, it looked like we were in a position to really manage the game, but we gifted them a goal right away and struggled between then and the interval. We sorted a few things out for the second half and managed our advantage well. Today I saw good mentality and that desire to honour the jersey, however we came up short in several situations where we’re usually more focused. [Juan] Musso also made some excellent saves today, so we can forgive him for giving away the penalty kick. As for Jayden Braaf, we'll assess everything about him day by day, just as we do for others. It's not easy – I mustn't take anything for granted and need to evaluate the contribution that each player can make. We'll see if and when we have the chance to make the most of this boy's talent. In the last five games we'll try to get as many points as we can."
