Udinese were beaten 5-1 by Inter at San Siro on Sunday in the final act of Serie A 2020/21.

The home side took the lead in the seventh minute after Ashley Young stabbed home from close range, leaving Udinese with an uphill battle to get anything from the game.

Rodrigo De Paul had a half chance with a right-footed volley on the edge of the box in the 29th minute, but the Argentine failed to keep his effort down.
Udinese looked to have reached half time with the deficit at just one goal, but Christian Eriksen had other ideas and promptly made it 2-0 from a free-kick.

Inter started the second half brightly, with Juan Musso having to tip over a powerful volleyed effort from Lautaro Martinez in the opening minutes. It proved to be simply delaying the inevitable, however, as the hosts were awarded a penalty after a Samir foul on Achraf Hakimi. Martinez stepped up to convert for 3-0.

Ivan Perisic added a fourth for Inter on the hour mark, before Romelu Lukaku made it 5-0 on 71 minutes.

There was another penalty awarded on 78 minutes – this time to Udinese after handball by Eriksen in the area. Roberto Pereyra picked up the ball and sent the keeper the wrong way to grab a consolation goal for his team.

The result means that Udinese finish the season in 14th place.
