Find out what our sporting director had to say

Pierpaolo Marino, the Udinese sporting director, spoke to Udinese TV on Monday. Read on to find out what he had to say.

“We’ve been looking to achieve technical consistency and wanted to focus on what we’ve done well over the last year. There have been many meetings between the owner, Gotti and me to analyse the things that have gone well, not so well and, in some cases, badly. There were positive outcomes from these to ensure that our relationship moves forward with the same level of enthusiasm as before.

“The priority was to confirm the coach, with everything else following on from that. At the moment, we’re working on putting together a coaching staff team with a better structure and more competitive streak which can filter through to the players on the pitch. There won’t be any wholesale changes as the coaching staff were put together by Udinese, rather than being brought here by a particular coach. The professionals who are here have developed within the club. The aim is to integrate some new faces into the mix that can make their own contribution, without losing or weakening the professional profiles that we already have. Alex Brunner and Sergio Marcon, for example, have been doing a sterling job.”
