Club legend Zico is is 72 today!

Born Arthur Antunes Coimbra in Rio de Janeiro on 3 March 1953, he spent two seasons at Udinese, in 1983/84 and 1984/85.

Widely considered one of the greatest players of his generation, his move to Udine itself was the stuff of legend, both because one of the world's best players was coming to Udine and because of the popular revolt that exploded when the transfer risked being blocked.

During his two years at the club, he dazzled fans and opponents alike with his silky skills, netting 22 goals in 40 Serie A appearances (almost finishing as top scorer in his maiden campaign) and a further eight goals in 14 Coppa Italia games, including a double in the cup derby with Triestina in February 1984.

Zico left the Udinese fans with many indelible memories and is an integral part of our club's history. He has never forgotten Udine and Friuli, and has returned to visit in recent years.

Happy birthday, Zico!
