Udinese Calcio is to make the Dacia Arena available for use as a vaccination centre by Confindustria Udine, the local industrial association.

The Curva Nord section of the stadium will become the sole vaccination hub for the city of Udine and the surrounding area for companies promoted by Confindustria Udine, with 18,000 people having already signed up.

The move underlines the importance of the Dacia Arena within the wider community.

“We’re pleased with our partnership with Confindustria Udine, which began just over a year ago and is delivering some great initiatives for the local area,” said Udinese general manager Franco Collavino. “We’re delighted to be able to do our bit on the front line of this battle and pleased to be helping with the organisation of the vaccination drive, which Udinese has signed up to with the aim of championing a very important message – that health is an essential asset. It’s a message that needs to be heard loud and clear.

“The Dacia Arena was designed to be a multi-functional facility, not just for football and for match-days but as a multi-purpose facility with things going on seven days a week – a resource for the local area. Now, thanks to our collaboration with Confindustria Udine and the Italian Red Cross, we’re able to open up the Dacia Arena to the community, something which makes us very proud.

“We’re the first club to offer internal areas in our stadium for the vaccine drive. The aim was to make the Curva Nord’s large outdoor parking areas available alongside the inside area, ensuring the organisers have as much flexibility in organising everything as possible. The dream for us would be to have it happening in the stands themselves. I think that would be lovely gesture and a significant one at that, in terms of the stadiums reopening, which we all hope can happen as soon as possible.”
