Everything is ready for the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup, scheduled for Saturday 8 August at 20:00 CEST: the tournament’s launch press conference was held at the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region’s headquarters in Udine, with the President of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga and Udinese Calcio’s Managing Director Franco Collavino both in attendance
during the press conference the trophy, made by sculptor Giorgio Celiberti, was also unveiled. The trophy will be awarded to the winning team on Saturday, but there will also be a separate award for the best player of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup, to be selected by the accredited journalists at the tournament.

With the event just a bit more than 24 hours away, there is already much to be happy about, as the tickets are about to be sold out and over 130 countries will be watching the tournament live, thus providing Udinese and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region with a great deal of visibility. Such achievements have been made possible thanks to the close collaboration between the Region and the club, which after the UEFA Super Cup is ready to host another international event at its stadium, which is increasingly becoming a cornerstone of these types of events.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup is also a great opportunity for fans to discover Udine and the region as a whole, as their ticket to the tournament will give them free access to all museums in Udine on 8 August and to reduced-price tickets until 16 August, as well as to a free audioguide to the city of Udine and a 20% discount on the FVGcard, again until 16 August.

Here is what Managing Director Collavino had to say during the conference:

“I want to thank President Fedriga for this outstanding event. Choosing to allocate resources to a very attractive summer tournament that draws interest to our region is a sound strategic choice. Investing in sport means investing in the region. The positive effect this has on the region’s image is huge, as shown by the potential number of viewers around the world who will watch the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup as it is broadcast across all continents. It also has a major economic impact, as over 23,000 tickets have already been sold and they will likely be all sold out. It also has a positive effect in terms of tourism and merchandising.

“Top-level facilities such as Bluenergy Stadium are instrumental in the region, even during off-season. This event is further proof that Udinese Calcio plays a key role in the region. We are proud of the teams competing in the tournament and of an extremely spectacular formula in terms of television entertainment as well.

“I want to thank everyone at Udinese, those who work in communication and marketing for the great work they’ve done. A special thank you goes to PromoTurismo for the work we’ve done together in great synergy to offer a great evening of entertainment Saturday at the stadium.”
