Galeone was an icon of Italian football and Udinese history. He played for the club from 1966 to 1974, with a total of 153 appearances and 16 goals during Udinese’s time in Serie C.
After finishing his playing career, he immediately started coaching, starting off as Udinese’s assistant coach in the 1974/75 season. After his first coaching experiences in Serie C, he returned to Udine in 1981 to train the U19 team after having won the youth league title. He would then stay in Udine for two years. He made his third return in 1994, when he replaced Adriano Fedele: he would lead Udinese all the way to the top flight, which is where the club has remained ever since. Galeone’s last chapter at Udinese was in 2006, with the team avoiding relegation under his leadership. He then remained at the club until 2007, which marked the end of his coaching career.
Galeone recorded a total of 54 matches managed for Udinese, leaving an important memory in the hearts of Udinese fans and developing a close bond with the city of Udine, which remained his home until the very end.
Goodbye, coach.
