Udinese Calcio is organising a collection of essential supplies to aid the Ukrainian people caught up in conflict.
The decision to provide concrete aid for the war-torn country follows the club's show of solidarity during the recent match against Sampdoria.
Organised in collaboration with AUC, a collection point for drugs, food and clothes will be opened at Dacia Arena at 17:00 CET on Monday 28 March. From then until Saturday 2 April, Udinese players, coaching staff, management, employees, fans and anyone in the Udine area can go to the Curva Nord and donate the items needed. Collection times are 17:00-20:00 Monday to Friday and 9:00-12:00 on Saturday 2 April.
Anyone wishing to make a donation is asked to bring items in a cardboard box indicating the type of item (“drugs”, “food” or “clothes”) on the outside of the box.
The supplies will be sent to Ukraine through Udinese Calcio partner Barone Autotrasporti and delivered to the Ukraine Football Association, who will arrange for its distribution among the population.
Udinese Calcio hopes that this small gesture of aid, together with the values of solidarity and positive messages football can provide, might help bring about peace – the most important victory and the one we all want.
“Football and sport in general can leverage support and convey a strong message of peace and solidarity,” said Udinese managing director Franco Collavino. “Udinese Calcio wants to do its bit to help, together with the fans. I would like to thank AUC for their immediate willingness to get on board with this idea. Our hope, both as citizens and sportspeople, is that peace can prevail as quickly as possible. We are sure that the Friulian people – and others besides – will only be too happy to demonstrate their generosity.”
