Udine, 21 October 2021 - Udinese Calcio and its green policy are once again the focus of international news with the club reaffirming its unwavering dedication to the cause of environmental sustainability. At the centre of it all is Dacia Arena, taken as an example by the world’s leading media. During Expo Dubai 2020 CNN put the spotlight on the sustainability model implemented at Udinese’s stadium, which aims to be the most environmentally friendly facility in Italy.

This is part of the club’s all-encompassing environmentally friendly approach which Udinese have been putting a great deal of effort into for years, in tandem with all of its partners.

Magda Pozzo shared her thoughts on the matter with CNN live from the Dubai Expo, as part of the programme "Connect the World":

"It’s a huge honour that CNN has chosen to single out Dacia Arena for its environmental sustainability policy - we’re really passionate about being green. Our aim is to turn our stadium into the "greenest" venue in Italy. We’ve already put in a lot of work and we won’t be letting up in our pursuit. As a club, we’ve been pursuing an environmentally friendly philosophy for some time, instilling this across the board at the club. What’s more, our partners such as Dacia, Macron and Bluenergy share this vision and also who fully embrace these positive values that we’re seeking to convey through football and all of our work.”

In June 2021 Udinese Calcio joined the United Nations "Sports for Climate Action" programme, becoming one of the first Italian and European clubs to sign up to the initiative. In doing so it committed itself to following the guidelines set out in the project and achieving the target reductions of CO2 emissions in order to curb climate change. All of the club’s partners are fully on board with Udinese’s environmental drive.

Udinese’s commitment to minimising their carbon footprint has been a long-term endeavour. Their partnership with Bluenergy sees Dacia Arena supplied exclusively with energy coming from renewable sources or gas with carbon offsetting, making the stadium one of the first carbon-neutral venues in Europe.

A key example of Udinese’s partners sharing their vision was the recent unveiling of their 2021/22 home kit. The presentation was carried out with main sponsor Dacia, with players appearing next to a Dacia Sandero electric car, a clear manifestation of the environmental philosophy which both Dacia and Udinese share. Meanwhile, kit supplier Macron produced the club’s kit using 100% eco-sustainable fabrics, with each shirt made using 13 recycled PET plastic bottles.
