On Wednesday morning, Udinese players and staff gathered at the Pagnacco Sports Centre as it was named after Udinese legend Pietro Zampa, who made 328 league appearances for the club.

Managing director Franco Collavino was joined by club captain Bram Nuytinck and midfielder Tolgay Arslan, who himself lives in Pagnacco.

Collavino spoke about what it meant for representatives of Udinese to attend. “For us, it was important to be here today because Pietro Zampa was a legend and made so many appearances for the club – no less than 328 in the league. Only Toto Di Natale and Valerio Bertotto have recorded more than that.

“It was crucial for us to be here to remember the man; he was a good person and a sports star who gave so much to Udinese. It’s significant that the Municipality and Association of Pagnacco have decided to name the centre after him.

“It was also nice to attend an in-person event after these years disrupted by the pandemic. We wanted our captain and Tolgay to be here too.”
