Cioffi: "Pleased with how the lads are training"

The coach speaks to Udinese TV before Verona

Gabriele Cioffi spoke positively about how the squad have been working in the lead-up to Sunday's visit to Hellas Verona.

Read what he had to say to Udinese TV on the eve of the game...

After a great result against Torino last time out, how are the players looking going into this match?

“The lads are in good shape. We've trained really well this week and I'm pleased with them. In football, you're only as good as your last result and tomorrow we want another good result to build on what we've been doing.”

Hellas are a similar sort of team to Torino. Will you take a similar approach to this match, looking to win the individual duels?

“Hellas and Torino are similar teams but not the same because the players are different. At the end of the day, it comes down to how the players put a formation into practice. The individual duels will be key.”

What are the main dangers in this match? Verona have scored more goals from long range than anyone else this season.

“Verona played very well against Juventus and came from behind to beat Bologna. [Igor] Tudor and his team are doing really well. If they've got 33 points on the board, it's because they've deserved them. They're dangerous with long-range shots but I could give you 33 reasons why they have 33 points."

Your rotation paid off against Torino. Will you make more changes tomorrow?

“We've seen that we have 15 or 16 first-choice players and four of five important players. Of those four or five, one of them – [Lazar] Samardzic - has been particularly unlucky because he's in great physical and mental form and he deserves to be playing more. I'm fortunate to have five very good attacking players with different skill sets who I can choose from depending on the type of match and what I see in training during the week.”

How is Roberto Pereyra doing?

“Tucu is a fantastic player. He's not 100% yet and the weeks ahead won't be easy because when you come back from an injury like his it takes a while to get going again, but I'm sure he'll be patient. We can't wait to have him back.”
