Ahead of Fiorentina v Udinese, Alessandro Zanoli and Technical Director Gian Luca Nani were interviewed by Sky and DAZN.
Zanoli: “It’s going to be a tough match. They want to win their first game of the season. We need to hit the ground running. They’re a tricky opponent like everyone else. We need to focus on the game and bring home those three points.
“Our win over Napoli showed that we can beat anyone. [Nicolo] Bertola played a great game in a new position and will have to do the same today. [Thomas] Kristensen is important for us and having him back helps us a lot.”
Nani: “Fiorentina are an important team. At the start of the season, I thought they could qualify for Europe, and it’s a shame seeing where they are in the table, it’s surprising as well as concerning because we’re against them today. They have many top players and can bounce back at any time, hopefully not today. We know it’s going to be a difficult game because they’re a good team. They’re in a tough situation and we’ll try to take advantage of that.
“The players won’t let their guard down, but we have to consider our opponent’s skills. They create a lot when they attack and they can be dangerous. We’ll have to be focused, do our best and try to do what we came here for, and that’s to win.
“At the end of the past transfer window I was asked if I was satisfied, but that really doesn’t matter until you see the players in action. We’re halfway through the season and we’ve reached our first goals, but you’ll have to ask me that question again in six months’ time if you want an answer. The idea is to not sell anyone in January, since we haven’t reached all our goals yet, which include reaching the 40-point mark. Once we do that, we can find a new goal, but it must be our starting point. We all have our dreams and ambitions and want to raise the bar, but that must be our starting point.”
