On 28 February 1942 Dino Zoff was born in Mariano in Friuli. The legendary goalkeeper featured for Udinese between 1961 and 1963, making his debut on 24 September 1961 in Fiorentina 5-2 Udinese.

While the heavy defeat was none of Zoff's fault coach Luigi Bonizzo dropped him and he wasn't recalled until the tail end of the season under a different coach, impressing against Juventus, Palermo, and Bologna.

Despite going on to feature 34 times for Udinese in Serie B in the following campaign Zoff was deemed surplus to requirements and thus was moved on to Mantova where he made 131 appearances. He took a step up in 1967 when he moved to Napoli where he remained for five seasons. His greatest club success came upon moving to Juventus aged 30 where he won six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, and a UEFA Cup.

Zoff's time with the Italian national team is fondly remembered; he was capped 112 times, won the European Championships in 1968, and conquered the World Cup in 1982 as well as collecting a runners-up medal in 1970. When he finally hung up his gloves in 1983 he had made 954 career appearances both at club and national team level.

He went on to have a managerial career, taking charge of Juventus, Lazio, Italy, and Fiorentina. He led his country to a runners-up place in the European Championships in 2000.
