Hassane Kamara and Kosta Runjaic addressed the media in the wake of Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Pisa.
Kamara: “We need to be more consistent during the course of the match. We stopped playing after going 2-1 up and it's difficult to win when that happens. It's something we must work on and improve.
“When we don't do things properly we concede goals. On that cross everyone needs to stick to their man. We're making mistakes that are costing us. If we keep making them, we'll keep letting in goals.”
Runjaic: “You have to respect every team in Serie A, especially those in the bottom half of the table who are fighting for every point where it comes down to small margins. Pisa have good statistics. Como struggled to score against them and then nearly conceded. Inter found it hard against them too.
“We produced a solid performance today but we made mistakes that we could have avoided and we're working on them. There's no magic formula to find defensive stability. We did well in some areas and had several chances – if we'd scored at the end we'd all be happy. We haven't done badly points-wise this week, although we could have done better. We needed another goal to win today and we let in two that we shouldn't have but one point is better than none. The players deserve credit for trying until the end.
“We should also remember that we had a day less than Pisa to recover, after playing in Turin on a frozen pitch that left [Thomas] Kristensen and [Nicolo] Zaniolo worse for wear
“We know we can avoid conceding certain goals but we shouldn't limit our analysis to that. I had some good feedback from this match. We've brought in several youngsters who have done well. We're on the right track. I'm pleased with our work but not with the result of course.
“We have various options in attack and today we were missing [Adam] Buksa, who is injured, and [Valun] Bayo, who's in Africa. Our game doesn't revolve solely around Zaniolo, although he's obviously very important to us. We have [Iker] Bravo and [Idrissa] Gueye, who are growing and will get more game time. [Keinan] Davis is doing very well after years in which he didn't play much and he's getting better still. Zaniolo and Davis complement each other and we're working so that the other forwards can fit in with them too. I'm happy with Zaniolo. He got an assist today but we have other options even without him. We didn't draw today because of our strikers.
“I'm happy with how our midfielders are improving. [Jurgen] Ekkelenkamp worked hard again today. I took him off because he was exhausted and I didn't want to risk him. We need him. [Lennon] Miller was exceptional today and he did very well against Como. When he came on against Como he showed his class. He's a reassuring presence in midfield. It's easier for [Jesper] Karlstrom when Miller's near him.
“Today and against Torino we played with four in midfield because we knew we'd have more of the ball. We want to be flexible. We'll have less possession against Inter so we might change again. The formation is not the most important thing – it's more about the decisions we make on the pitch and that's an area where we must improve. We could have avoided conceding goals but we're not going to beat ourselves up over it. We produced a solid performance. This team gives its all and is growing. It's an ongoing process. If we keep working well, we can be successful. We must keep focusing on one game at a time.”
