Hassane Kamara and Kosta Runjaic spoke at the post-match press conference after Udinese drew 1-1 with Como in their opening game of the new Serie A season.
Kamara: “We'll take the positives from this match. We picked up a point against a great team. Obviously we would have preferred to win because we want to do well in front of our fans but we have to move on now.
On linking up with Jurgen Ekkelenkamp on the left: “The team did well creating space down the right too. It's a team effort. We have to analyse the good and the bad things from this game and build on the good things because we want this to be a great season.
“I'm happy to have scored – I didn't score any last season and I know I have to do more. I want to help the team and I'm one of the oldest so I have to set an example.
“I don't think we find it hard to score. We could have got another today. We need to believe in ourselves more because we have lots of quality going forward.”
Runjaic: “It was a very enjoyable match. The first few games in the season can be rather stand-offish but there were lots of transitions today. I'm happy with how we performed against a top opponents. Como have set themselves up to challenge in the Champions League and Serie A.
"I want to give credit to my players. We defended well and covered the space well on the long balls. In my time here, this is our best first game of the season. I'm happy with how we battled today.
“[Keinan] Davis should be available for selection against Monza. We'll have to run some tests on [Matteo] Palma. He felt some pain in his thigh and he couldn't maintain this intensity. He's 18 years old and if we compare him to Como's defenders, who are 27 and 22, you have to consider the genetics too. He was excellent today. If he keeps working like this, he'll make great progress this season.
“[Idrissa] Gueye is 19. He was up against experienced defenders and he did some good things. I'm pleased with him.”
“Abankwah is 22 and he did well at Watford. He played well today. He had a few problems but that's normal after an intense pre-season. He gave everything he had. He's a well-rounded player: he's fast, strong and good on the ball. I'm looking forward to seeing him this year. It was important for him to perform well in this first match.
“We want to build on last season, be consistent and keep growing. I don't know how far we can go but it's good to be ambitious. We're focused on the path we have to take and our next step is the trip to Monza, which is going to be difficult.
“I heard Fabregas said we're like a Premier League team. I'm happy with our performance today and I know we can do a lot better. Individually we can improve and put our opponents under pressure.”
