Lazio v Udinese: Match preview

Udinese’s rock-solid defence of the past five games faces Lazio as both sides seek to break head-to-head deadlock

There have been 93 Serie A competitive encounters between Lazio and Udinese. The record stands at 27 wins, 25 draws and 41 losses. Over the last 12 games, however, the two teams are perfectly balanced: three victories, six draws and three defeats. The most recent match against the Biancocelesti – which ended in a 1-1 draw last December – extended Udinese’s unbeaten streak against Lazio to four consecutive games, a run that extends to five if one only considers the ones played at the Olimpico, where their latest clash ended 1-1 (March 2025).

Udinese have only conceded one goal in their last four games: no team have done better than them in Serie A (only Juventus hold the same record). In particular, in the last two away matches, Kosta Runjaic’s men have won and kept a clean sheet. If they achieve the same result and win against Lazio on Monday, it will be their first three-match winning streak in away matches since 2022. Also, if they keep a clean sheet it will be their first since 2011 to record three consecutive wins without conceding any goals away from Udine. They are up against a team that are in good shape, that won four out of their last six matches and this week qualified for the Coppa Italia final.

Lazio are the team that have collected 15 clean sheets (only Inter have done better), as well as the team with the most red cards (seven) and the team that have scored the most goals after the 90th minute (six). In the last competitive encounter between the two teams, however, it was Udinese that struck late, with Keinan Davis scoring in extra time.

If Oumar Solet plays on Monday, it will be his 50th Serie A appearance for Udinese, while Jurgen Ekkelenkamp could score his tenth goal for Udinese in all competitions. Apart from Keinan Davis, Oier Zarraga has also scored against Lazio: that was back in March 2024, on that occasion too at the Stadio Olimpico.
