The Udinese sporting director, Pierpaolo Marino, has spoken about the current and future transfer market. During the press conference, which unveiled the two new signings, Filip Benkovic and Pablo Mari, Marino said he was "very happy to welcome two players that we have followed and pursued for a long time in the football market. Our scouting team had already noticed Benkovic some years ago, Mari needs no introduction: he has huge experience and the right age to do well here with us, and we hope for the future."

The future opens with a double change in defence. "Two players have left, Samir and Sebastien De Maio, who have been important for us in recent years and to whom my thanks go. A left footer and a right footer have left, while a remarkably skilled left footer like Mari is joining us, and the technical and precise right-footed Benkovic, who is at the age of maturity and will have to keep the promises he has already shown. Both are recognised by their seriousness and professionalism, and have always shown great dedication in training.”

The new pair, he says, will be important "both defensively and offensively because of their aerial skills. We have brought in two complete players of different ages, but who can make a great contribution. I thank them and wish them both the best here, and hope that their careers here in Udine can be successful and open up new horizons.”

Regarding the possibility of other transfer deals, Marino says that the club "is active on the market, we are not affected by it. The discussion on this winter window is closed, we have strengthened. The squad was already competitive before the market, we now believe we are in good condition in every department. In midfield, Pereyra is recovering. In recent days we've been able to invest in young prospects.”
