After Udinese's game against Roma, Gian Luca Nani spoke to the media to offer his thoughts on the January transfer window.

“We've signed a great centre-back in [Branimir] Mlacic to bring forward an operation we would have done in the summer. We always try to plan ahead and we made two additions in positions where we knew we needed to intervene. Mlacic and [Juan] Arizala are both highly talented youngsters. Mlacic will soon be in the senior Croatia set-up. There was a lot of interest in him and it was a difficult deal to get done, with so many clubs lining up. He's very mature and he decided that he would be able to develop better here.

“Arizala chose us over other top clubs too because Udinese have built a name for themselves with the work they've done over the last 40 years. I think he has a very bright future ahead. He's a fantastic player.

“We have other excellent young players like [Saba] Goglichidze, [Matteo] Palma and [James] Abankwah out on loan.

"[Razvan] Sava is a young goalkeeper who did very well last season. We're counting on him and on [Alessandro] Nunziante too.

“We never held talks with or enquired about [Yanis] Massolin.”
