Udinese released their new third kit this week and goalkeeper Daniele Padelli modelled his new shirt as he spoke on Udinese Tonight. He reflected on Udinese’s latest match and was full of praise for the work ethic of his team.

With the match against Lazio fresh on his mind, Padelli believed Udinese deserved more than the draw they came away with. “We deserved three points, but coming away from Rome with a point against a team like Lazio is a good result. It’s a fantastic time at the moment. Something wonderful was planted here and is growing, so that fills us with pride every time we train and take to the pitch as a team, for those playing and those who aren’t. It’s special.”

He's been impressed by the whole squad, not just those who get the most playing time. “The truth is that even people who don’t play, like Jajalo and Nestorovski, train like they have to play every match. That raises the level of performance at the weekend because you play like you train.”

Padelli acts as a leader in the team and takes this position seriously. “I know what my role is in the dressing room. I try to bring my experience and help the team in any way I can. That doesn’t mean I always say the right thing, but my intentions are always for the good of the team.”

He noted crossovers between the region of Friuli and Udinese’s approach to the game. “It’s a place where people work so hard, stay quiet and don’t make big statements. Udinese embody this spirt and way of being. The coach understands that perfectly and knows what people want to see. You might lose a match, but you have to always give 100%.”

Finally, Padelli wouldn’t talk too much about future hopes for the club, with eyes set firmly on the next match. “We have lots of objectives, but the first one is always the upcoming game. The coach asks us to take it one step at a time so that we keep our feet on the ground. We’re thinking about Monza now. We always play to win. If we succeed, then that’s great. If we lose, we know we’ve given everything.”
