Kosta Runjaic and James Abankwah held a post-match media conference after Udinese's 1-0 Coppa Italia win over Padova. This is what they had to say:
Runjaic: “We were up against a team with quality, experienced players. We should have gone 2-0 up in the first half: if [Nicolo] Zaniolo had taken that chance, it would have been a lot easier but it's never easy when you're through on goal.
"In any case, we're through to the next round and lots of players got 90 minutes in their legs. It was a good opportunity to improve our fitness. Now we have a week to prepare for the Como game. We need to perform better.”
“[Christian] Kabasele won't be available next week so we used this game to hone our movement. I don't know if we'll play with the same back three against Como but [Matteo] Palma did very well tonight and Abankwah was solid. Matteo needs more time playing in the centre of a back three. [Oumar] Solet was excellent too. It was [Maduka] Okoye's first game since injury and he kept a clean sheet. Overall it was good but we don't want to get too carried away. We must maintain our focus for Como.
“[Jurgen] Ekkelenkamp is a very important player for us. He's hard-working. We used him sparingly in pre-season after his injury so the minutes he got under hsibelt today will have done him good. I expect a lot from him. He's shown what he's capable of and I expect him to maintain that level, scoring goals, setting up team-mates and generally working for the team. He listens a lot and tries to implement what we tell him. I'm happy to have him and I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops further.
“We have a big squad but the transfer window is still open so it could change before the end. We have a well-rounded group and that helps. [Keinan] Davis is a key player for us up front but we have other players we can rely on. We'll see what happens in the last few days of the transfer window.
"Padova are a decent team who play well together. They swap positions a lot in midfield and have two mobile forwards, as well as players with Serie A experiene. We defended well and closed the gaps but they had a few opportunities. It wasn't an wasy match and we earned the win. It wasn't our best performance but it's still early days, plus of course the heat was a factor for both teams."
Abankwah: "I get the feeling this is a big season for me. I think I've done well in pre-season. Now it's up to me to keep it up and show that I'm ready.
“Last season was a a good year for me. I got experience playing in the Championship with Watford. Now I have to show I'm ready for here too.”
