Kosta Runjaic and Christian Kabasele took questions from journalists after Udinese lost 1-0 to Bologna on Monday night. Here's what they had to say:
Runjaic: “I wouldn't do things differently. We'd lost two games and we needed to make some changes. [Christian] Kabasele did really well and [Jakub] Piotrowski had an excellent game. [Adam] Buksa needed to get up to speed and it wasn't an easy match for him. I'm pleased with the team today and also with [Kingsley] Ehizibue's attitude.
“The game was won by small margins. Of course we can do better but we didn't give up against a strong team. We kept playing with passion but sadly it wasn't enough. With a bit more experience we could have taken something from this game.
"Now we need to recover and prepare for our next match at home to Fiorentina. We need to react because the performance was there today but we're going to need a big effort to get a result.
“We definitely miss [Keinan] Davis. He's had an excellent season so far. He should rejoin the team for training this week and be able to go on the bench against Fiorentina. We miss his quality.
“[Nicolo] Zaniolo played well today – a lot better than in the last two games. That's normal after an operation. He's worked very hard for the team and the club. He had a few decent chances today and on another day he might have scored.
“Now we need to focus on preparing as best we can for our next game against Fiorentina, with the support of our fans. We have to accept this result and I've told the players to hold their heads high. I'm sure that if we carry on like this we'll start picking up points again.
“[Oumar] Solet felt some pain in his thigh. He felt ready and we thought he was – we didn't expect to have to substitute him off straight away. We'll try to get him fit again as quickly as possible. Hopefully it's nothing serious.”
Kabasele: “It was a hard-fought match. We weren't clinical enough in the final third – we're taking too many shots without scoring. We're in a bit of a rough patch and our opponents are getting the rub of the green and we're not. We need to keep working away. We took a small step forward today because we played well and kept battling till the end against a good team, but we're still heading home empty-handed.
“We spoke this week and said that we have the chance to become the first Udinese team in 13 years to finish in the top half of the table. That's our aim. We train at a high intensity every day but we didn't see it in the last two matches. Today we showed that we're focused and we don't want to repeat the end of last season. From here until the end, we'll be tough opponents for everyone, then of course - like today - it comes down to fine details, but there will be no questioning our attitude. We'll keep working to turn things in our favour.
“I don't think it was a clear-cut penalty today. The VAR shouldn't have intervened. One foot was slightly outside the area and one inside: you can't be sure. This is football nowadays: referees look for these small things and everything is becoming softer. In this case the VAR should have let the referee decide.”
