Following our 0-0 away draw in Parma coach Kosta Runjaic and Matteo Palma spoke to the media. Here’s what they had to say.
Runjaic:
“Today we were the better side and deserved to get the three points, though we could just as easily have lost. We were a bit unlucky in certain situations - we could’ve been awarded a penalty for the challenge on [Keinan] Davis. After they missed their spot-kick we were running the risk of letting the game get away from us.
“We’ll take a point away from home - it’s a small step forward. We need to stay calm and keep working hard. Palma played really well. [Christian] Kabasele, [James] Abankwah and [Nicolo] Bertola also did good jobs.
“Today we saw just how important [Nicolo] Zaniolo is to us, even if he wasn’t at 100%. The same goes for Davis. They’re key players for us.
“Overall we’re conceding too many goals. We need to tighten up our defence and our defending on set-pieces. Given our current situation, we wanted to play on the front foot against a team in a similar league position that was playing at home. We were the better side, but as we’ve seen recently, football is unpredictable. I’m confident that if we keep working and continue what we’re doing we’ll be sure to improve. We have to fight, keep believing and stick together.”
Palma:
“Today I was tasked with marking [Adrian] Bernabe - that was part of our game plan. I was positioned more towards the centre of the pitch, and the boss told me to cover the spaces in behind.
“We really needed to win. We had our chances but didn’t take advantage of them. That being said, Parma did well. We showed what we’re made of and played a good game - we need to keep this up.
“I always put the team first, but I’m obviously happy when I perform well. Ultimately, the most important thing is winning.”
