Kosta Runjaic met with the media on Friday ahead of Udinese's visit to Atalanta. Here's a selection of his answers:
Defence missing Bertola and Solet
“[Nicolo] Bertola's injury was not good news for us. Hopefully [Oumar] Solet will be back for Juventus but we don't want to take risks. The same goes with [Arthur] Atta. At the moment we're short on numbers at the back. We've spoken about it but haven't yet made a decision on how we'll play in Bergamo. We've played three at the back most often but don't have any problems playing four. [Branimir] Mlacic is a young lad who needs to settle into the team but he had a good impact against Fiorentina. He has interesting qualities, great potential and he's already mature. I'd have no problem throwing him in. The good thing about this situation is you have to think less about who to pick. The only doubt is three or four at the back.”
Atta, Davis, Zaniolo and unavailable players
“Atta has trained and could be in the squad. [Keinan] Davis played well against Fiorentina and showed how important he is for us. He had no problems so he came thorugh that 'test'. [Nicolo] Zaniolo is fine too and he'll be involved. The only players missing are Bertola, [Alessandro] Zanoli and Solet.”
Playing against Atalanta
“The most important thing is not the formation but how you interpret the individual roles. 3-4-2-1 is an interesting formation but the players need to be able to implement it. It's a formation that lets you attack a lot but also requires intensity out of possession. It's an option for us and we did well with it when he had [Jurgen] Ekkelenkamp and Atta as attacking midfielders. Now Zaniolo is available again, although he can play in different positions. Against Fiorentina we did well with two strikers.
“The most important thing tomorrow is how we work without the ball. Atalanta have a top-quality squad with players who exploit opposition errors and break quickly. We'll need to be good without the ball but also with the ball and force them to defend more. When we played them earlier this season, we held our shape well and we'll need to do that again tomorrow and be very aggressive.”
