On Monday night, Udinese will face Torino for the 83rd time in Serie A, with the record currently standing at 28 wins, 24 draws and 30 defeats for the Friulian club. The last two games between the teams, which took place last season, were both won by Udinese (2-1 in January in Turin, 2-0 in May at home), something that had not occurred since the 2007/08 season. This away fixture, however, has always been a difficult one for Udinese, with just two wins since Torino returned to Serie A: 1-0 in December and 3-2 in December 2020.
So far this season, Udinese’s away matches have been anything but dull, with a total of 13 goals scored and conceded, more than any other team. Of the six goals scored away, five came in the first half and, together with Hassane Kamara’s goal against Como, make Udinese the top-goal scoring team in the first half of matches, behind only Roma and Frosinone. They will face Torino, who have lost their last three home matches between Serie A and Coppa Italia, and have conceded goals in every one of their last 10 Serie A games. They are also the team who have lost possession in their own half on the most occasions this season (140), as well as the team with the fewest plays in the opponent’s half (63), second only to Lecce.
Jurgen Ekkelenkamp found the back of the net in both away matches this season so far (against Monza and Inter) and since March, only Donyell Malen has contributed to more goals away than the Udinese player. Jurgen also scored a goal last time Udinese faced Torino away back in January, bringing the score to 2-0 after Nicolo Zaniolo’s goal at the start of the second half. Oier Zarraga, on the other hand, scored his first Serie A goal against Torino, in the 1-1 draw of December 2023 in Turin. Another Udinese player who has been performing very well in this first part of the season is Maduka Okoye, the third-best goalkeeper in Serie A in terms of saves (22), behind Lecce’s Wladimiro Falcone and Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi.
There are many former players of both teams in this fixture: the Udinese players who played for Torino are Daniele Padelli from 2013 to 2017 (116 appearances), Mergim Vojvoda from 2020 to 2025 (135 appearances and three goals) Enzo Ebosse from January to May 2026 (13 appearances). On the other hand, Torino’s former Udinese players are Duvan Zapata (65 appearances and 19 goals between 2015 and 2017) and Rolando Mandragora (74 appearances and six goals from 2018 to 2021), as well as Pietro Comuzzo, who spent a short spell at the Udinese Academy.
