Christian Kabasele and Technical Director Gokhan Inler were interviewed by DAZN ahead of Udinese v Lazio.
Kabasele: “We did not play well against Fiorentina, so we started our ritiro one day early. Spending an extra night at a hotel is not the worst thing in the world. We are the first ones that must take responsibility because we didn’t do our job. We found some time to talk and we’re ready to change things.
“The real Udinese beat Inter, Napoli and Atalanta, but we keep having highs and lows. We have to become consistent.
“We don’t want to talk about Europe; our primary goal is to be among the top ten teams in the table, which is something that the club hasn’t achieved for some time now. Then, in spring, we’ll take stock and see if we can aim a bit higher.”
Inler: “We believe in all our goalkeepers; they’re working well. We really believe in [Razvan] Sava. [Alessandro] Nunziante has great prospects, also in the national team. Today the coach chose Daniele Padelli because he’s a leader and has a lot of experience.
“We played a bad match in Florence; we didn’t expect that kind of performance. The players are aware of that and they’ve worked hard this week. Now we have another difficult game and we want to bounce back.
“We don’t see the ritiro as punishment. The purpose is for the players to be together, and they need it. Our aim is to win every match. Our number one goal is to avoid relegation, after that we always aim higher. However, the season is long: we must remain focused.”
