Time to break the lunch-match jinx, although Udinese have only lost one of their last 13 matches against Sassuolo

Udinese will face Sassuolo on Sunday at Bluenergy Stadium, on Matchday 24 of the 2025/26 Serie A season. The record currently stands at eight wins for Udinese, 10 draws and five defeats. One of these five losses came in the first half of this season in Reggio Emilia (1-3) and it was the only time Udinese have lost to Sassuolo in their past 13 encounters. Sassuolo have never won any of their past six games at Bluenergy Stadium, where Udinese have scored an impressive 13 goals. There are usually many goals in this fixture: in fact, the two teams have scored a total of 25 goals in their last seven games. Four of these came in the last Udinese v Sassuolo Serie A encounter in December 2023, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Kosta Runjaic’s team will have to break the 12:30 kick-off jinx, as they remain winless in nine games played at this time, including the reverse fixture against Sassuolo. The Neroverdi have won two of their last three Serie A games, but only one of their six last away games. On Sunday, they will also have to play without Nemanja Matic, who was sent off during the team’s last match for the first time since he started playing in Italy.

Oumar Solet scored his first penalty in his career against Lecce and became – alongside Pierre Kalulu – the only Serie A defender with at least three goals and three assists since the start of 2025. If Oier Zarraga takes to the field, he will make his 50th Serie A appearance, all of which have been for Udinese. Arthur Atta reached this milestone during Udinese’s last match. The only player in Udinese’s squad who has scored against Sassuolo is Keinan Davis – who is currently injured – while Nicolo Zaniolo scored his very first Serie A goal against Sassuolo (while playing for Roma).
