Udinese have added an experienced player to their wide options with the signing of Mergim Vojvoda from Como.

The 31-year-old Kosovo international has penned a two-year contract until 30 June 2028, with an option for a third season.

Vojvoda can operate both in a four-man defence and as a wing-back with excellent attacking attributes.

Born in Llaushe, Kosovo, Mergim began his football career at Maastricht in the Netherlands and later joined Standard Liege in Belgium. He made his professional debut while on loan at fellow Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden during the 2014/15 season.

After a year on loan at Carl Zeiss Jena in Germany the following year, he joined Mouscron. Over the next three seasons he made 103 appearances for the Belgian club in all competitions, scoring two goals.

He then returned to Standard Liege in the summer of 2019, playing 25 games in the Jupiler Pro League (with one goal) and three in the Europa League.

His performances in the 2019/20 season earned him a move to Serie A, with Torino snapping him up. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular and went on to rack up 135 Serie A and Coppa Italia appearances for the Turin side, with three goals.

In January 2025 he switched to Como, where Cesc Fabregas employed him as a wide midfielder or forward with excellent results. In the second half of the 2024/25 season, he turned out 11 times and scored one goal. Last season he made 30 league appearances with two goals, helping Como to qualify for the Champions League. He also played four times in Como's run to the Coppa Italia semi-finals.

Vojvoda is Kosovo's all-time record appearance maker, with 74 caps. He has also captained his country and scored three goals for them. Previously he played 12 times for Albania U21s.
