Gotti: “The lads gave their all”

The coach offers his take on the match against Cagliari

Luca Gotti said he was pleased with his players' efforts despite not coming away with the result they wanted as Joao Pedro's penalty won the points for Cagliari at Dacia Arena.

Speaking to Udinese TV after the final whistle, the boss explained: “The match played out in a similar fashion to the one against Torino: we didn't play at all badly but went behind to a penalty that could have been avoided.

“Afterwards, we weren't able to make the most of the chances we created but I don't think we can put it down to a lack of determination because my players gave everything out there and got the ball into the opposition area time and again.

“If we look at the result alone then obviously we came up short but it wasn't for want of trying.”

Gotti went on to praise the impact of Dutch youngster Jayden Braaf, who impressed as a second-half substitute.

“Braaf did really well when he came on. It's a shame he wasn't rewarded with a goal from that chance he had.”
