Following Udinese’s defeat at the hands of Juventus on Sunday, technical director Pierpaolo Marino had this to say to Udinese TV: “What should be a free-kick to us ends up being a penalty for [Cristiano] Ronaldo. There was naivety there on the part of the referee, who awarded the penalty, but the thing I wasn’t happy about was Juventus putting real pressure on the referee. At the end of the first half I saw [Fabio] Paratici and other Juve executives vehemently protesting to [Daniele] Chiffi for a supposed penalty that was not awarded, but I would say that at the end of the first half it’s not right to cause all that comotion. All this led to a second half in which Chiffi was no longer the same referee, and I must say this for the protection of the team and the whole club. We dominated Juventus in both the first and second halves and controlled the game with ease, even pressing hard. We played a spectacular game, one of the best we've played at home.”
