Udinese picked up a huge three points in the Sunday lunchtime kick off, beating Benevento 4-2 away from home in what was an intense contest. Nahuel Molina opened the scoring with just four minutes on the clock, capping off a swift Udinese move forward by firing a fierce diagonal shot into the net from inside the area.
The second came after the half-hour mark, when Tolgay Arslan had time to control the ball on the edge of the box and tuck it away confidently. However Benevento were given hope just minutes later when Arslan’s poorly-judged header back was intercepted by Gianluca Lapadula, who was then brought down in the box by Juan Musso. Nicolas Viola stuck away the resulting penalty kick.
Udinese commenced the second period in the same way they began the first. Stryger Larsen found himself unmarked in the area and headed home Rodrigo De Paul’s pinpoint cross to make it 3-1. With just short of 20 minutes to go, Jayden Braaf made it 4-1, after showing great skill inside the box to work some space for a shot and firing into the net at the near post.
The goal put the result beyond doubt although Lapadula cut the deficit late on when his deflected shot found its way beyond Musso to make it 4-2.
