The first Udinese International Media Day at Dacia Arena

Two days of interviews with top international media outlets as part of a first for Italian clubs

The first Udinese International Media Day has come to an end, having run on 21 and 22 March at Dacia Arena

The event saw the club open its doors to some of the most prestigious media outlets in Europe and across the globe for two days in which top foreign representatives shone a light on the club’s projects, both on and off the pitch, and our players, who were interviewed by all the most prestigious publications.

A fantastic event staged for the first time by a Serie A club attracted the likes of CANAL+ Group (France), CBS News (United States), Agencia EFE (Spain) GOAL International, Stats Perform (both UK), Sky Sport (Italy) and SPORT TV (Portugal) to Udine, representing the cream of the crop in the media world in the main European and American markets.

The event confirmed the international appeal of Udinese Calcio and further enhanced Dacia Arena as a venue that is gaining more and more recognition in the international press as a modern club-owned ground that is active 365 days of the year, while the club’s infrastructure and sustainable business model also came in for praise, both in terms of governance and environmental sustainability, which are areas in which Udinese leads the way. The likes of Beto, Kingsley Ehizibue, Adam Masina, Marco Silvestri, Walace and Florian Thauvin along with boss Andrea Sottil were all interviewed by the media in attendance, while Magda Pozzo, Managing Director Franco Collavino, Technical Director Pierpaolo Marino and chief scout Andrea Carnevale were all asked about the club’s development projects on the sporting side and beyond.

In a bid to make this a potential common theme throughout Italian football, Udinese wanted to share its International Media Day with Lega Serie A by hosting Anna Guarnerio, the Lega Serie A International Media Rights Director, who spoke about plans linked to foreign rights and on the exposure of our league across the world, highlighting the pioneering nature of this event, which could become a model for all clubs.

The event also contributed to bringing major visibility and exposure to the city of Udine and the local region.

“We’re thrilled and very proud to be the first club to organise an International Media Day,” explained Managing Director Franco Collavino. “Udinese Calcio has always had innovation as a core value, trying to be ahead of its time and stage events that can serve as a reference point for other clubs. I’d like to thank all the media outlets that have got involved as well as Lega Serie A and Infront for their participation, which confirmed the way our club can bring together and champion innovative ideas and experiences. The club’s international profile, its players, sustainable business model, the fight for environmental sustainability and global scouting excellence are all elements that make the club stand out on the global stage and the media day has effectively provided further confirmation of this.”
