During the Social Football Summit at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Udinese confirmed its position as part of a key model at the heart of Italian football.

The club’s vice president Stefano Campoccia represented the club on a panel focusing on the Udinese model, with special mention of its particular attributes relating to sustainable and clear management in order to guarantee a place in the top flight for 28 years in a row.

The system hinges on Dacia Arena and the club’s scouting network, which is revered the world over and a key part of the club’s success.

Vice president Campoccia also touched on future developments and current trends in Italian football.

“Our club has managed to transform into a business model that I feel is gaining recognition. With regard to our stadium, we’ve made various investments.

“Prior to Covid, we had an average capacity of 20,000. Right now, in part thanks to the team’s rich vein of form, we’re almost able to pack Dacia Arena out. We’re also lucky enough to have supporters all over the globe.

“While environmental sustainability is so important to us, so is digital sustainability. During a recent event, we managed to experiment with face recognition and we’re sure we’ll be able to start using this method which will guarantee the stadium is a safe place in the future.

“Our industry is in transition. The Melandri law has helped us take the first step forward in order to centralise what football business is all about. We’re constantly evolving. It takes training and we need to fuse our skills together.

“With regard to the technical sporting side, we’re in excellent hands with the Pozzo family as we often manage to bring talented youngsters to Udine thanks to our world-class scouting network. We also champion an inclusive model thanks to which we’re able to enhance the profiles of young players.”
