20-year-old Irish defender Festy Ebosele, a new signing for the club, was interviewed on Udinese Tonight and shared his thoughts on a variety of topics:

“The prospect of playing in Serie A is thrilling. I think the team are helping me improve my overall game and I’m feeling increasingly confident.

“I used to be coached by Wayne Rooney at Derby County; I learned so much for him. I played in a variety of roles there and improved a great deal. I hope that I can bring my qualities to the forefront at Udinese. I loved having Rooney as a coach; he’s a top manager. Any player would appreciate having him at their club.

“I love the weather here in Udine; I’m still not use to the heat. This pre-season was probably the hardest of my career, partially as a result of this.

“As for my team-mates, I’ve been impressed by Roberto Pereyra; he played a blinder against Chelsea. Gerard Deulofeu is also amazing. I followed him when he was at Barcelona and I think he’s a class act.

“Regarding filling Nahuel Molina’s boots on the right side of defence, I think he’s a brilliant player and I hope to match his wonderful 2021/22.

“As for coach Andrea Sottil, he’s really passionate and focuses on the team’s defence. His advice can help me grow. My strengths are my speed and covering ability, but I need to improve my game in tight areas and playing the final ball.

“I’m keen to play for my country; I need to show what I’m made of. I can’t wait for 2022/23 to get underway; I hope it’s a good season for all involved.”
