Masina: "We can achieve great things. I put us before me"

Our new Moroccan defender speaks to Udinese TV

Adam Masina is raring to go. That's the unmistakeable impression you got from hearing him speak and the defender was one of the guests on this week's edition of Udinese Tonight.

“I'm delighted to be back in Italy so that I can test myself in Serie A – a top-level, world-class league,” the Moroccan explained.

“We must set out to try to achieve something big. It would be great if we could get off on the right foot. It would give us a burst of enthusiasm that can carry us forward. The only way I know is through hard work, with energy and desire. The team has made me feel at home here. I'm confident we can achieve great things.

“I love giving everything I have. I'm the sort of player who always puts 'us' before 'me'. If we have that philosophy, I think Udinese can go a long way and enjoy an excellent season, but only time will tell. We have quality players here with great potential.”

Masina appears to have slotted seamlessly into his new role as part of a three-man back line, having previously played as a full-back or wing-back on the left flank.

“I'm enjoying playing in a back three and it's something I spoke to the coach about before. I think as a player you have to be willing to adapt to the needs of the team and if me moving inside can help Udinese I'm happy to do it. I can definitely improve though – and it doesn't mean forgetting what you've done before. IF the boss wants me to play on the win, there's no problem. That's where I play for Morocco.”

Looking ahead to next Saturday's Serie A opener against AC Milan, the 28-year-old continued: “The coach has said he wants to win every match and we'll look to play our game from the first to the last minute against Milan, then see how we did. We can't wait to get stuck into it – and for me it would be my 100th game. I'm fired up for it.”
