Kosta Runjaic said he is happy with the progress being made by Udinese after they maintained their decent run of form with a battling 1-0 victory at Lecce.
“It was an evenly balanced encounter,” the coach began after the 1-0 win at the Stadio Via del Mare. “We knew it wouldn't be easy here – only four teams have won in Lecce this season. We did well in the first half and less well in the second but it's a big win for us.
“We're playing with more consistency and more calm than we had at the start of the season. I'm happy with the process.”
Asked about the protracted debate over who should take the penalty, Runjaic explained: “It's not the first time two players have argued over a penalty for a free kick. There's a hierarchy and Florian [Thauvin] is our designated penalty-taker. Lucca didn't respect that but we'll discuss it internally. Now we should be enjoying this win and celebrating. There's a great team spirit in the camp and we'll talk about it calmly during the week.”
