Kosta Runjaic offered his assessment after Udinese slipped to a home defeat against AC Milan on Saturday evening,
“The formation change was a good idea but generally it's not about tactics. It's more about how we implement every single position and we didn't do that well today. We were too deep, especially on the right. [Kingsley] Ehizibue needed to be higher up and press [Pervis] Estupinan more.
“It came down to individual mistakes and against top teams like this you pay for them. We made mistakes against Pisa too. I take responsibility for these choices. I thought they could work against but Milan were a notch above us in every area.
“We have some players who are still adapting to the team and aren't ready yet. We were up against a very experienced team today who are strong in the challenge and have lots of players who have been playing at the highest level for many years. We have to move on now and focus on the next game.
“I'm happy with the way [Nicolo] Zaniolo has started here but he needs time to understand how we want to play. The same goes for [Alessandro] Zanoli and [Lennon] Miller. Unfortunately we don't have any friendly games where we can do that, but we have to keep taking small steps forward. That's why it's good that we have a game on Tuesday. We have to make the most of these games to improve.”
